Anti Aging Tips - Here’s 10 You Can Implement Today

by Jim Hofman

With all the misinformation that’s out there about anti aging and how to stay young, it’s hard to separate truth from fiction. You should also be aware, if you’re not already, that there are countless companies touting new anti aging products every day. Some are more designed to thin out your wallet than keeping you young.

Often times, the biggest obstacle to feeling young is our health. Nagging, chronic health problems often get in the way of feeling our best and doing our best. While some health conditions are unavoidable, others are easily kept at bay by simple alterations to our daily routines.

Just as physical health is important to feeling young and fighting the effects of aging, so is our mental health. There are a number of positive, proactive steps we can take to keep our mental health at optimum levels. Implementing a combination of easy anti aging lifestyle changes will help you combat the aging process. While you will indeed get older, you won’t have to feel or look any less than your best.

Here are the top 10 anti aging tips you can start today:

1. Substitute one glass of water for a beverage you usually consume. We all know water is good for us. It helps the skin retain a youthful glow, and it’s important for our internal organs. Substitute a glass of the good stuff for one of your cups of coffee or your happy hour cocktail.

2. Get some sleep. Sounds simple enough, but the key here is making sure your sleep environment is as comfortable and as free from distractions as possible. Deep, restful sleep will invigorate you and add positive benefit to other aspects of your life.

3. Let’s go for a walk! Even a short daily walk has health benefits, as well as being a great stress reducer. Reducing stress is a key strategy to combat aging.

4. Set aside time to stretch. Flexibility diminishes as we age, and stretching is the best way to maintain flexibility. Stretch your arms, legs, and back especially.

5. Work on your balance. Have you seen older people who struggle with their balance? Balance is a skill that diminishes if we don’t work at it. Try simple balance enhancing movements like standing on one foot for 20 seconds. Doing this every day will dramatically improve your balance.

6. Work your mind like a muscle. Keep your mind nimble by engaging in challenging mental activities. Try to learn something new every day by seeking out knowledge and activities that focus on knowledge building.

7. Reconnect with old friends. Everyone has an old friend they’ve lost touch with. Make time to reconnect. Having a lot of active friends and socializing is key to keeping your mind sharp.

8. Eat more fresh fish. Fish is extremely good for you and offers significant vital nutrients. And no, a big platter of fried fish doesn’t count! Substitute fresh fish for red meat at one meal per week.

9. Write down what you want to accomplish. Writing down goals is sometimes considered trite, but it works, especially in terms of focus and energy levels. Before you go to sleep, jot down what you want to accomplish the next day. You’ll awake more energized and ready to get things done.

10. Adopt a new friend and get a pet. Pet owners are known to enjoy more active, healthful lives. Pets bring a wonderful level of companionship and joy to our lives, not to mention being a built in personal trainer in the case of dogs. You’ll really appreciate all the joy that a pet companion will bring into your life!

  1. Poor health and stress will age a person faster then anything else. Stress relief and proper nutrition should be the foundation of any anti-aging method/program. Find a stress reducer that works for you and focus on eating healthy, exercise, get adequate sleep and pay attention to what your body is telling you.

  2. Great tips. Thank you.
