Repressed Anger: Resolution with Hypnosis

When anger is repressed, it is accompanied by self destructive thoughts and a feeling of dissatisfaction. The loss of self esteem is of central importance to those suffering from depression (repressed anger can lead to depression).

Boys are taught to release their anger and girls are taught it is the social norm to contain their anger. Both sexes may repress their anger to such an extent that become people pleasers or “smilers” – without any outward sign of what they truly feel.

With hypnosis, in a relaxed state, the client learns three things necessary for those with repressed anger issues:

how to relieve the anger,

change their trigger thoughts and

be assertive.

A feeling of inadequacy related to low self esteem can add to the anger. It is a never ending cycle of negative thoughts, feelings of hostility inside with the stress of a happy facade which can eat the sufferer up inside. If you deny your anger what physical manifestations does it produce? Headaches, pains and aches, irritable bowel syndrome can be caused as a result of repressed anger and stress.

How was anger demonstrated in your home? Sometimes we can either mirror our parents or do the opposite. Your anger can be more a reflection on how you feel about yourself – feelings of inferiority, not being quite good enough but with gentle reprogramming you can improve your self esteem. When you are really angry at someone, are your truly angry at them or do they remind you of someone from your past that made your angry or are you projecting your anger at yourself onto someone else.

If your anger has ever caused you to lash out physically at someone or an animal, then you need to address why inflicting fear or physical pain on someone gives you a release. While it would be lovely for this inner anger to be magically swept away, it is not possible to remove this repressed anger until we know what function it has. All habits, emotions have a role to play and if we leave a gap without knowing what caused the emotion in the first place, then something worse could take its place.

Once we identify the function of the repressed anger, we can discover better, more positive ways of behaving. The life you want for yourself where you can feel truly happy and content, with a new assertiveness has to be more exciting to you than the live you are living now – at all emotional and physical levels. We need to understand the neurology of the mind.

You know that repressing anger is just as bad as lashing out physically – someone is getting hurt either emotionally or physically. With hypnosis you can learn how to break the unwanted habit of not standing up for oneself while feeling the full force of the anger inside and develop a new connection of self assertion without holding on to anger, without anger even developing. What different would this make to your life, what difference would it make to those around you, family and friends.

Before making the change, you must take a detailed look at your life, what is the cost of staying the same and what will you gain by making the change – get ready to improve your life with hypnosis.

Stress Management and Hypnosis

When your body experiences stress (either perceived and real), the brain releases chemicals around the body telling it to shut down digestion, shallow breath, heart pumps increases production to send more blood to arms and legs for “fight or flight”. With this adrenaline running through your body you may experience shakes, sensations of clamminess, dry mouth, nervousness, frustration, panic and aggression.  The theory is that when the threat abates, the body settles down to normal functioning but what happens if the threat is perceived and your thoughts are driving the adrenaline rush around your body. Your body reacts as though the threat is real.

While you may “come down” from the peak of the effects of stress, the body does not settle completely and each time you perceive something stressful, the body is thrown into turmoil and all because of your thoughts.  With hypnosis and NLP (neuro linguistic programming) you can learn how to stop these thoughts from wearing out your body.  Do you suffer from muscle ache, headache or an inability to breathe deeply? These symptoms can be helped by learning how to first relax the mind and body (to give them a break as it were) and then you can work on your subconscious programming – why you feel threatened in the first place.

The wonderful experience of hypnosis while focusing on the change you want to make (in this case, calm and relaxed) is beneficial in that you are turning on your own self healing energy, all normal working order to be restored to the body and the mind).  In this context the “threat” can be attending a meeting, standing up in front of people, going out – whatever causes you to feel like running away and makes you angry is your “threat”.  Because the perceived threat re-enforces the fear and panic, that strong neural connection in your mind must be broken.  But before breaking it, we need to understand why you feel threatened.  Is it a lack of confidence or an inability to be assertive?

Whatever it is we can work on it together and at the same time make new neural links (remember your brain is a mine of electrical activity and this is to our advantage in that we can re-wire your brain essentially).  The new neural links become stronger as you practice your new skills.  The main component is that you feel you can change but just don’t know how.

Then you focus on how great your life would be without stressful thoughts – what can you do with all that thought space you are creating?  How would you hold yourself, how would you feel being confident and assertive?  What would be great about your life with this change made?

All hypnosis is self hypnosis and you are learning how to adapt these processes into all other areas of your life – you gain your rightful place – as the controller of your mind and its working all with the help of hypnosis and NLP.  It is about making you the best you can be and bringing out the best of you so that you can be happier and more content with your mind free to concentrate on the things you really want to think about.  Take a moment to close your eyes and image a stressfree you.  How do you hold yourself, how do you look, how do you feel?  How wonderful would that be – and all with the power of hypnosis!

Stress, Depression & Hypnosis: Dublin

When you start to feel yourself going down, do you notice a change in your body – do you bend your head forwards, or do you feel a pressure from the top of your head as if you are physically being ground into the ground?  What you experience physically is a manifestation of what is going on inside your mind?  How many times have you thought to yourself “I can’t deal with this weight (=pressure) any more”?  Do you find the world to be darker because your mind is so busy, too many thoughts to really know what is going on, just too much noise in your head?

That is where hypnosis comes in.  What if there was a way, a very rapid way, to help you to turn down and even off the noise inside your head – what would that mean to you?  What if there was a way to just adjust the way you hold yourself and you feel better?  Think of the wonderful gift that would be for yourself and for your loved ones.  Remember you do not suffer alone and your partner, your parent, your children suffer too.

But sometimes with stress and depression, you can become very insular, it’s “you against the world” and it can be hard to see your allies.  Hypnosis will give you the sleep you desire, the relaxation to the mind and body that you have never known before and it is coming from inside you.  Hypnosis is a concentrated relaxation – I am showing you the way to relax so that you feel immediate benefit from the stress and depression that you are suffering.

You move from the Beta (aware) state into the Alpha (daydream) state which is the connection between the conscious mind to the subconscious mind.  Visualisation techniques are very powerful in this state.  The deeper state is Theta (light sleep) to re-enforce the changes you want to make without any conscious awareness being required.  Let me help you so that you can see a positive change in yourself.  You are fully aware at all times, you are just so beautifully relaxed that nothing bothers and I can help make that happen.  So call me now to gain peace and ease your mind so that you can start your recovery now.  Call me on 086 1038892 for an appointment in Baggot Street, Dublin 2 or email zita@zitastanley.com
